You’ve probably received a brochure from the Clement County Chamber of Commerce or seen their ads in Southern Living inviting you every June to their Mountain Days festival. Before you get seduced by their picturesque postcard pastels, you owe it to yourself to page through Quinn MacHollister’s shell-shocking expose of what really lurks in the Shadows Over Banshee Ridge. After reading this account, you’ll never again think of Kentucky as all bourbon, basketball, and horse farms. No, Clement County’s welcome wagon is driven by • A corrupt county judge/executive • A used-car magnate whose great deals usually include drugs • A husband and wife team of “madams” • A reality TV host in search of his own ego • A sheriff who turns his head so that he can take up residence in TV land • A conspiracy that reaches as far as Washington, DC • And creatures shrouded in legend. You are about to enter the most corrupt county in Kentucky . . . where not all the monsters are human.

To paraphrase Georges Fauré (Gérard Depardieu's character in the movie Green Card), it's not F. Scott Fitzgerald, but it is a fun romp through the hills of eastern Kentucky, written by a group of 60+ years-young mostly English profs. They've all been to Clement County, if not attending a soccer game, at least on the bus tours, introducing new faculty to the region. In a sentence, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World meets the Dukes of Hazzard (this time in Kentucky and not Georgia), sort of by Penelope Ashe.P.S. Shirley gave it four stars because the book just slayed Bev.

Shadows Over Banshee Ridge Quinn MacHollister 9781503308497 Books Reviews
What can I say, there really are a lot of colorful bad guys in this one. The Sheriff turning a blind eye to all the corruption going on around him; finally redeems himself in the end, but at a very high price. The action is steady throughout, but things really get good when the violent Sasquatch creatures invade a gathering of the bad guys at the country club. Very interesting concept, which I liked. I recommend this book.
Shadows Over Banshee Ridge by Quinn MacHolister (actually a pen name used by a collaboration of 5 authors) is a thoroughly entertaining book. Once I began reading, the book was really difficult to put down. It was a fun, light read, with lots of twists so that you didn’t know what was coming next. The combination of characters work very well together. This kept me turning the pages as quickly as possible to see just what their next, somewhat less than stellar, move would be. As the characters bumble along, you think, “I can see that happening!” The book is very entertaining and easy to read. If you are looking for a lighthearted and fun book, this is the one!

Not being a "big-foot" reading believer, I did not know what to expect with this book. It was very refreshing and a fun read. Hats off to the authors .......
Fun read. A bit over the top with the number of characters and multiple points of view.
Shadows Over Banshee Ridge was a most entertaining read. If you wonder about the existence of "Bigfoot" and enjoy a setting in Appalachia, this is a must read.
This was a fun read mixing mythology, culture, and mystery into an engaging story. There are a variety of characters and motivations that keep the reader engaged.
